One of the features of insomnia is the broad range of thoughts that rattle around in the early hours of the morning. Many people are plagued with fearful thoughts, deliberately disseminated by the media, that make us more pliable and easier to control. Misfits like me have more fun. We think the impossible, the improbable and the often entertaining. Then we wake to face the day with a smile on our face and no idea how it got there.
Once totally captured myself, I now realise that the suppression of ideas impoverishes us all. We are meant to ‘think big thoughts’. We applaud children who show no restraint on their imagination and play without inhibition. But all too often and too soon, we conform to the idea ‘children should be seen and not heard’, which leads to the tyrannical adult version – ‘when I want your opinion, I’ll tell you what it is’.
In recent times we have seen free-thinkers punished for spreading ‘misinformation’ – basically anything which does not conform to the official narrative. Cognitive dissonance can incapacitate us completely when one’s common sense is challenged. Like the strong social pressure on us all to get jabbed, even though the white coated administrators had no idea what was in it. They were so ‘Safe and Effective’ that it was considered totally plausible that ‘My seatbelt doesn’t work unless you’re wearing yours’ It now turns out that the jabs were very unsafe but the world has moved on and it’s just rude to keep harping back to the evidence.
Similarly we can look into the skies and rationalise the long cloud streaks from aircraft sprays as vapour trails and nothing to do with the unseasonal snow, fires, drought or flood. This week Californians must feel reassured hearing their politicians tell them it’s natural, just painful. How many home owners are now discovering that their insurance policies don’t cover wildfires since late last year.
So now that we’ve arrived into 2025 let’s freewheel about how to restore our world for the benefit of mankind. (I don’t think it has anything to do with Trump’s inauguration on 20th January) Firstly let’s have plenty of clean and nutritious food. Let’s also have access to abundant free, or very low cost, energy. May our sons and daughters grow in healthy societies. Let gentle rain fall cleanly from the sky to feed our crops and streams. May fish leap again in our rivers, May peace calm our hearts and wars end. May all people seek to live, to share, to encourage, to serve one another and to love.
May Bill Gates, Klaus Schwab, Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern, Mark Rutte, Volodymyr Zelensky John Kerry, Bono, Tony Blair, David Cameron, Albert Bourla, Benjamin Netanyahu and their many friends find a wonderful island far away on which to enjoy an extended holiday until we have forgotten what they looked like.
So how many of you will wake tomorrow with a smile on your face?
