I remember watching Star Trek in the early 70s when Kirk and Spock were my heroes. Everything was so futuristic, it made for good Sci-Fi. Who could have imagined that over the small span of just 50 years we would see the communicator become a reality – and have such a profound affect on our society. Today’s adolescents spend more time on their phones than they do talking to one another. Another outcome was that instead of Phasors we got Tazers. These nifty gadgets complement the firearm with a non-lethal option for policy enforcement.
During the 80s the movies got darker. We watched Arnie The Terminator dispatch humanoids without remorse. Rambo then showed us more tricks for carnage. The Alien trilogy introduced the idea of parasitic infestation leading to the destruction of humanity. In the noughties things turned darker still with the Matrix Trilogy suggested an overarching spiritual theme whereby machines, linked by Artificial Intelligence, consider themselves superior to humanity. The darkest for me came later with the John Wick trilogy – another violence desensitising gorefest. Keanu Reeves is the common denominator – interesting.
This is arguably the most dangerous aspect of our conditioning. Through the normalisation of extreme violence both in our movies and video games we have lost empathy and respect for one another; anything goes. This has been a societal preparation for ‘Shock and Awe’ displays by aggressive US forces whether in the Mutla Gap, Bagdad, Afghanistan or with the summary execution of fall-guy Osama Bin-Laden.
Having fed the NATO budget for years a monster has been created, whose chains are barely strong enough to contain it. Let’s complement this absurdity with an even more insidious enemy – an invisible and deadly virus that wants to kill us all. Fear of this bogeyman has turned communities and families against themselves. Now in 2022 Medical apartheid, State Sponsored Terrorism, has become acceptable. Around the world Quarantine / Internment / Schindler’s List style death camps are being hurriedly built. The Nuremberg Code has been ignored, the American constitution is being trashed and preparations nearing completion for the total enslavement of humanity through Vaxxine Passports and Social Credit Systems. Beam me up Scottie!
During the murderous assault on our economies, the so-called lockdowns, Netflix ramped up its offerings to distract us from reality and prepare us for worse to come. The series Colony normalised the idea of control by an overclass under orders from off-world entities. X-Men suggested that superhuman abilities are commonplace. The Squid Game normalises human hunting and Hunger Games sets the scene for real hardship ahead.
Over Christmas 2021 a top release was ‘Don’t Look Up’. I watched about 20 minutes of it and saw it as a triumphalist display by the WEF. The fate of the world hangs in the balance, the science is undeniable yet no one wants to believe it. Unfortunately by the time the Gospel Hall slaughter scene of Kingsman, or the mindless munching of Zombie Apocalypse becomes a reality, possibly with the introduction of 5G, it will be pointless to say I told you so.
