How Dare You

Just a few short years ago I took the bus to Belfast to watch the Skool Streik protest over global warming. It was a colourful and noisy event with thousands of schoolchildren marching, waving flags and banners. One spoke very clearly through its simplicity – ‘No Planet B’. It was good to see a younger generation exercise their ability to gather and voice their disgust at the frightful state to which we’ve trashed the planet. I cheered at the spectacle of young Greta Thunberg admonishing the UN General Assembly for abandoning their responsibilities to future generations. But I’ve long since changed my perspective on global warming, which I now recognise as a scam. I was taken in, like millions of others, but now that I know better, I’ll do better. Although this old fart can admit he was duped – there’s no fool like an old fool, Greta has done a dangerous disservice to a generation.

One of the most frightening aspects of the scam is that politicians have largely jumped on the climate change bandwagon without examining the facts. They have adopted the populist approach of standing strong for the latest thing. Even according to Wikipedia CO2 levels have reached only 0.04% of the atmosphere. Yet this gas, upon which our trees and foliage depend and which in turn give us oxygen, has been demonised as the culprit for self-inflicted mass extinction. This is palpable nonsense of course but neatly sidesteps the very real issue of pollution which is poisoning the commons and is attacking our health through our food, water and air.

Neither does climate change enjoy a scientific consensus. There are many prominent academics opposing the UN / IPCC narrative but their views are censored or attacked, never debated. The charge toward ‘sustainable energy sources’ such as wind and solar farms ignores the huge acreage required for them to replace fossil fuel plants. It also ignores the fact that we will leave all this decaying infrastructure to our children long after the installations are decommissioned. Further it ignores that much of this non-biodegradable infrastructure is manufactured in China using fossil fuel power stations still being opened at more than one a month.

I have long held the view that we should be doing everything possible to reduce pollution and clean up the mess caused by accumulating nuclear waste for decades. Rather than a knee-jerk opposition to all things nuclear we should acknowledge its relative safety per kilowatt hour energy generated and be supporting promising initiatives such as that of the Copenhagen Atomics ‘Waste Burner’. This promising technology is very compact, yields much higher efficiency and drastically reduces the radioactivity of waste products to circa 300 years. The idea of the Thorium Moulton Salt Reactor is not new. The first concept reactor was built in Tennessee in the 1960s and ran continuously for almost 5 years. So why has it been ignored for so long? - It didn’t produce Plutonium for weapons.

Alan Jones, a former presenter at Sky News Australia, is largely responsible for my change of mind. He started a wider investigation of the narrative, which like covid-19, doesn’t survive a scratching. It also woke me up to the very real threat of geoengineering and the pioneering research of scientists like Dane Wigginton. When one is faced with the evidence that the government has lied to us it inevitably raises the question did they ever tell us the truth? I never considered myself a conspiracy theorist but since the difference between that and a conspiracy is now typically reduced to six months, perhaps I should consider it a badge of honour.

So with all your doom and gloom scenarios Greta, you have created a mood of hopelessness among our youth and misdirected their anger. You have stripped them of their agency and replaced it with impotent protest. You have served your corporate masters and Agenda-30 well. How Dare You!
