This is something of a departure for my blog, which of late has been mainly concerned with the events of 2020 / 2021. As a Health Coach with a holistic perspective I’m drawn to consider how our current situation is affecting us spiritually. It’s as though I see a portcullis with the words ‘Ministry of Love’ in an official looking typeface and with the simple instruction – ‘Be together and love one another’.
Somehow I’m largely detached from the social media scene and have never used my phone to capture and share moments of awe, wonder and fun, but I check in regularly trying to keep up with the news and views of my friends as our lives unfold. Life moves fast on Facebook and the current zeitgeist is troubled to say the least. We all need time out from this chaos.
When my wife was pregnant she would often place my hand on her bump so that I could feel our baby kick and say hello. These were magical moments. Today as I write it’s stupid o’clock immediately following on from ‘quiet time’ where I peacefully reflect on the infinite calm available to us all and accessible with every breath. It’s as though I’ve returned to the love and warmth that protected me in the womb and I’m conscious of 7.8 billion twins quietly being together.
Many hold the view that heaven is an awareness of our Oneness and is a state of consciousness that we can choose in any moment. Nature is full of examples like tiny fish swimming together in an infinite shoal or a murmuration of thousands of birds moving as one and filling the sky with joy. William Wordsworth captured such a moment in Daffodils, so appropriate for this time of year. The poem gives us a moment of awe and appreciation of this annual dance, which has continued for millennia in the fields from whence we came.
Later on the day will unfold before me. May it be as the petals of a flower caressed with sunlight and dancing in the breeze. May it be much more joyful than a stoic ‘Be Calm and Carry On’.
